Making a Difference
I made a presentation at a Division Council meeting that Byron Wills attended. He said he was inspired at that meeting to write this poem. I was inspired to share it with you. Bryon was recently elected Lt. Governor Elect for his Division. He is a member of the Historic Downtown Gresham, Oregon Kiwanis Club.

Making a Difference
By Byron S. Wills
March 16, 2008
Life is a paradox –
many strive for success.
They seek status and security –
more and better “things” to possess.
One wonders, however,
do their lives have meaning – give them satisfaction?
Or do they feel “jaded” and “out of synch”
like they’re missing out on the “action”?
How do we satisfy
our deepest inner needs?
What can we do
our “inner voice” to heed?
Investing ourselves in others
through our dollars and sweat.
Making a difference in the lives of others
will give the satisfaction you seek, you can bet!
Those who have learned this secret
“’tis better than to give than to receive”.
Have learned to listen to a higher calling –
to follow a new “creed”.
We should all be working
to help and improve the lives of others.
Through our leadership, work and financial support –
to make them our sisters and our brothers.
Saving the world one child and one community at a time
Are the words we believe and stress.
Following them can give one what they seek
feelings of fulfillment, meaning and success.
Want to make a difference?
Want your life to have purpose?
Give yourself in helping others
through your love and through your service!
