Club and Division Leaders, Can you answer YES?
I have encouraged all good Kiwanians to be good thieves. When you interclub or attend training...”STEAL.” Yes! That is what Kiwanians do. When they see something working well for other clubs, they are willing to try it themselves.
While attending the Mid-Winter Training at the Eastern Canada and Caribbean District, I heard a presentation by my class Governor (2002-2003) Bill Stuart. He asked a series of questions to club leaders. He gave me permission to steal. I have modified the questions a bit, but that is why stealing is so great. And, you do not spend time in jail.
- Do you read or recite the Objects of Kiwanis at a club meeting at least monthly?
- Do you have a Happy Dollar opportunity at each meeting?
- Do you make an official “Interclub Visit” to some other club monthly, quarterly?
- Do you personally read the Kiwanis Magazine and District
- Publications and encourage your club officers and members to read them also?
- Do you regularly visit your District, Division, Club, and KI web sites? Do you encourage your members to do that too? /li>
- Does your club welcome, even expect, Members at Board Meetings?
- Does your club have at least one “Hands-on” project in which 5 or more members participate monthly or weekly?
- Have your club’s Bylaws been reviewed and/or revised within the last 12-18 months?
- How often does your club schedule a Meeting or Event which includes partners/spouses?
- In your club, do Club Committee Chairpersons make Committee Reports at Board Meetings? Does your Club do this also at regular Club Meetings?
- Is your Club promoting “Kiwanis One Day” on April 5, 2008? - The Membership 1-2-3 Program? - Attendance at councils, division, district and Kiwanis International conferences?
- How recently has your club reviewed the Distinguished Club or District Criteria, its membership goals, or visited your SLP sponsored programs?
IF NOT NOW; WHEN? IF NOT YOU; WHO?
Just One Can Make a Difference!
