The Club President/CEO
Your critical role in the future of our New Kiwanis
Club Presidents are responsible for providing a quality Kiwanis experience for club members. The President holds the key to our growth and retention by virtue of his/her weekly interactions and leadership role. Steve Siemens taught us the importance of those first-five minutes for a prospective member or guest who visits a club. You only have one chance to make a first impression. That is true, not only related to their interest in your club, but also for the image of the Kiwanis name around the world.

Is your position important? -- Yes! Do you have great responsibilities? -- Yes! Can your club make a difference? -- Absolutely! When you evaluate the needs of your members, and the needs of the community, and they deliver quality service which meets both needs - you are on your way to building a quality club.
When you make an effort to make each member feel welcome, wanted, and needed,
- they are more likely to contribute to the mission of the club;
- they feel that their input, talents, and contributions are recognized and appreciated;
- they feel accepted, respected, and valued;
- you create an atmosphere of inclusion where every member’s needs are taken into account;
- you create a climate of enthusiasm, openness, and concern;
- you ensure that differences in your club members are managed, valued, and utilized as strengths.
This creates a contagious club environment - a club that new members will want to join. You will also retain existing members while offering new members a unique service opportunity. You will be contributing to our one Million Members goal by 2015. This is important, not only because it is our clubs and members who will make us grow, but because One Million Members will allow us to serve the children in our communities with five times the effectiveness we have now.
If you have not revisited your Club Leadership Guide from your CLE Training, it's time to dust it off and evaluate these leadership principles. If you have not done so already, have your club take a look in the mirror and see what looks back. The Club assessment and community analysis will get you started on the right path.
