Flu Season
Every winter we face a new virus strain associated with the flu. In normal seasons is relatively simple when we get vaccinated, heed early warning signs, exercise, and stay healthy. If neglected, major complications can occur.
I believe this scenario fits our Kiwanis clubs. Keeping them healthy and vibrant allows clubs to fulfill their service mission. However, many are showing early signs of sickness. Let's take a look at the regression of a club that ignore warning signs of trouble.
Club Flu Symptoms: clubs sneeze: little action needed clubs cough: a few minor adjustments needed clubs catch cold: pretty serious intervention needed clubs get flu: major changes needed club gets pneumonia: serious resuscitation needed club dies: children suffer from our losses
We need an army of club doctors whose job is to quickly intervene and restore club health. Too often, we wait until a club gets the flu before we take notice and at the pneumonia stage, we finally try to do something. We need to be more proactive and less reactive.
As club officers, we cannot ignore the early warning signs of a club's illness. The Club Excellence Tool by Kiwanis International has the prescription and medication needed to ward off this sickness. Sometimes the cure can be as simple as conducting a club analysis and changing a few simple things to keep your club energized, strong, and well.
