Daily Survival Kit for Kiwanians

While living in Alaska for over 30 years, I spent time in the woods camping, fishing and hunting. I was always concerned about packing light and yet having the right emergency and basic equipment. For the most part, I never got into real trouble.

However, in life and in serving others, we also need some basic survival tools. An e-mail was sent to me in 2003 that had these suggestions:

Daily Survival Kit:Items Needed:
Toothpicks:to remind us to pick out the best qualities in others.
Rubber bands:to remind us to be flexible; things may not always go the way you want.
Band Aids:to remind you to heal hurt feelings. -- Yours or someone else’s.
Pencils:to remind you to list your blessing every day.
Erasers:to remind you that everyone makes mistakes and it’s OK.
Chewing gum:to remind you to stick with it and you can accomplish anything.
Mints:to remind you that you are worth a lot of mint!
CANDY KISS:to remind you that everyone needs a kiss or hug every day.

As we go about our fun, fellowship, and service, let us never forget the value of true friends. Keep these tools handy for a constant reminder. You will be packed properly for daily survival.
